Godwin Obaseki to rules out opposition members in his cabinet

Edo State newly elect governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has said that he will not accommodate any member of the opposition into his cabinet as Commissioners just as he said he will immediately commence preparation for the 2017 budget.
Meanwhile, Mr Obaseki, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, said he will only reach out to the opposition to explain the policies of his administration and not to bring them into his cabinet so they will not jeopardise his policies.

According to him, “I will not be able to accept anybody from the opposition as a commissioner in my cabinet.’
Saying his focus now will be how to prepare the 2017 budget, Obaseki said: “My first assignment is to put together a team and get appropriation for next year because we have to hit the ground running.
“The focus will not change in terms of infrastructure and education. The added focus will be on job creation and empowerment. That is why I need to focus on the budget and
ensure I get enough appropriation to emphasis the social aspects which I promised during my campaigns.
We will continue to build roads and refurbish schools. What is important is how to get
people to work.” he said.
