Imo North SenatorialRerun Election Declared Inconclusive by INEC

The Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, has declared the Okigwe zone senatorial district of Imo State rerun election inconclusive.


The returning officer for the election informed that the decision was taken following the fact that the number of registered voters in places where elections did not take place is bigger than what the leading candidate has
over his closest opponent.
Senator Athan Achonu the candidate of the people's Democratic Party, pulled a total votes number of 40, 142 vote, while the opponent, Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored 48,921 votes.
Uwajumogu leads his closest opponent with a margin of 8,777 votes
However the electoral umpire said there will be supplementary election in 15 polling units with a total number of 13,000 registered voters on a yet to be fixed dates.
